*Good Luck, Vidya! We are sad to see our sweet little friend move to New Jersey. We know they will love you as much as we do!!
*Congratulations to James for representing our class at the 2016 Authors' Breakfast. He will be reading his informational story, All About Baseball. We are very proud of you, buddy! *Pretty soon, you will be noticing some "blinged-out" clips from our behavior chart. If a child has reached "role model status" at the top of the chart and continues to exhibit fabulous behavior, I will wear his/her clip the following day. When the day is over, the student chooses a rhinestone to add some bling. After 3 rhinestones, a clip will be "blinged-out" and ready to take home and be replaced by a new clip. I have 5 clips to wear tomorrow!!! Yahoo!!! *Peace, Love, First Grade!

*Thank you to the students who dressed as 100 year olds on Wednesday for the 100th Day of School. Teasley Manor was the place to be! The "residents" enjoyed a fashion show; chair volleyball; an edible 100 snack; counting my collections of 100; and many other fun activities.
*Congratulations to James! He will represent us at the upcoming "Authors' Breakfast" to share his informational book, All About Baseball. *Our social studies suitcase looked quite different last week. It was a large stick with a bandanna tied around the end. Inside we discovered a quilt, wooden shoes, a simple plate, and a cup. Harriet Tubman wouldn't have been able to afford a suitcase, as she escaped slavery and became a conductor on the "Underground railroad." We continue to learn about this brave American hero. *Hopefully, you enjoyed a little blast of winter on Friday afternoon. Safe travels back to school tomorrow! *Peace, Love, First Grade! Happy MLK Day! I look forward to seeing each of you tomorrow.
Congratulations to Sahana for winning 2nd place in the Science Fair! We are so proud of you. The student connection team would like to congratulate Addison and Jake for perfect attendance (zero absences and tardies) for the 2nd quarter. These students will be allowed to dress down on Friday, January 22, 2016. Both students received a sticker to wear on Friday. Thanks to these parents for encouraging prompt attendance each day! Dress as if you were 100 on Wednesday for the 100th Day of School. Our room will transform into Teasley Manor Retirement Home for the day. Peace, Love, First Grade! Reminders:
*Congratulations to Addison and Jake for achieving Perfect Attendance for last quarter! *Dress-down day on January 15...pay $1.00 to wear your favorite outfit. (Addison and Jake earned a free dress-down sticker for their attendance in Quarter 2) *Bring your collection of 3 items by Friday, January 15 for our new writing unit. *No school on Monday, January 18 in honor of MLK. *Dress-up as if you're 100 years old on Wednesday, January 20 for the 100th Day of School. *Peace, Love, First Grade! January has brought our temperatures down, but our reading levels up! Hopefully,
you were able to celebrate the growth your children made in guided reading levels. As a reading recovery teacher, we learned that it may take up to a year for some children to move to a new reading level, but each student moved at least one level this quarter! Thank you for supporting literacy at home! Sharmitha will be assigned to a different grade level beginning Monday. Good Luck, Sharmitha. We will miss you! Good Luck to Sahana, as she will be entering the Science Fair on Tuesday.. We are proud of you for your extra curricular activity and wish you well. Please return your signed white signature card in the goldenrod envelope provided. Peace, Love, First Grade! Happy New Year! I hope 2016 finds you healthy and ready for the upcoming year. School resumes tomorrow, and report cards will go home Friday. I look forward to seeing all of you and your children and sharing all of their progress.
Welcome to our new student, Sharmitha! We are glad you are here! Peace, Love, First Grade! |
