*Happy MLK Day!! Take inspiration from a great leader today: How can you treat others with kindness and respect?
*We will begin our writing unit on Opinion Writing this week, so be on the look-out for a letter about bringing a small collection of similar items to school. We will practice ordering them according to preference and write about the reasons we like each item. *The 100th Day of School will be this Friday, January 20, 2017. Dress as if you were 100 years old and a resident of Teasley Manor Retirement Home. We will have a (slow-paced) fun-filled day of learning! *Peace, Love, First Grade!

*Peace, Love, First Grade! *It's hard to believe that we are halfway through the school year! I hope all of you have had a safe and memorable winter holiday break. Thank you for my wonderful gift card and thoughtful gifts!
*Thank you, Whitney Bratlett, for making our Winter Holday Party a success! You have gotten rave reviews! I'm so sorry that I missed it and the Hanukkah Celebration the day before, which was planned by Gina and Bryan McClenning. *Hopefully, we will all be healthy this new year! *Please note: there will be NO HOMEWORK CALENDAR THIS MONTH! We will be focusing on reading 360 Minutes to earn our Six Flags tickets. Please be on the lookout for a yellow recording form to record your minutes. Also, I will send home a list of the January words to practice for the next spelling test, which will be on Friday, February 3. *See you tomorrow! *Peace, Love, First Grade! *Thank you to Whitney Bartlett for planning our upcoming Winter Holiday Party on Tuesday at 10:00. Please contact Whitney if you wish to volunteer and/or donate items. We hope to see you there!
*Thank you to our Mystery Readers! We have loved guessing your identity from your clues and love hearing you read to us. We look forward to more stories in 2017. *Have a safe holiday season, and please enjoy spending time with your loved ones. I look forward to seeing you in 2017! Peace, Love, First Grade! *We have had so many tardies lately! Please remember that when your child arrives after the bell, we have already begun our day and are ready for instruction. Your child has missed: unpacking, socializing, and breakfast! Please make sure that your child arrives before the bell for the last 8 days of 2016.
